The Purchase Area Agency on Aging (AAA), established in 1974, is designated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as required by the Older American’s Act, to provide the planning and oversight of services to the elderly in the Purchase counties of Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Marshall and McCracken.

The Purchase AAA administers Federally and state funded aging programs of approximately $3,000,000 in annual revenue.  The AAA plans, coordinates and advocates for the development of comprehensive community-based services to help seniors remain as independent as possible in their homes and communities and is responsible for administration, technical assistance and monitoring.

Programs are funded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky through the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Division of Aging Services and by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under the Older Americans Act.  Local funds are also provided to support these programs.
