PADD Hazard Mitigation Plan

Deposits and First Month's Rent for the Homeless

The purpose of the Supportive Housing Program (SHP) is to get homeless persons back into affordable, safe stable housing. The person must be able to verify that they meet the homeless definition.

The homeless definition states that a person is homeless if they:

    1. Live in places not meant for human habitation, such as cars, parks, sidewalks, abandoned buildings, on the street, or
    2. Are in an emergency shelter, in transitional or supportive housing for homeless persons who originally came from the streets or emergency shelters, or
    3. Are fleeing a domestic violence housing situation and no subsequent residence has been identified and the person lacks the resources and support networks needed to obtain housing.

Verification is required on all of the above. A copy of a form of identification along with income verification is also required. Those without a source of income are ineligible.

If a person is deemed to be qualified for the program, first month's rent or rent deposit and/or utility deposits will be provided through vouchers. Linking clients to necessary agencies to provide any additional assistance needed for good transition to maintain stable housing will be provided as well.  Case management for at least seven months is a major factor in the program.

For further information, contact 270-247-7171 for intake personnel Jane McClanahan, at extension 116, or case manager David Hargrove at extension 158.
